Robbery At Pompano Beach SunTrust Bank

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) - A Pompano Beach bank employee was robbed as she opened for business early Wednesday morning.

The woman told the FBI when opened the front door of the SunTrust location at NE 14th Avenue the robber raced up and forced her inside the bank.

The FBI did not say what was taken.

"I'm just surprised that the bank was robbed. I hope they didn't get anything," said Diana Williams.

Williams, who frequents the bank, said she knows the woman who was robbed and hoped she was not hurt.

"If it was me I would be like, my heart would be racing right now. I think it's just the time we're living in. And it's just a chance we take, all of us. We just have to thank God for one day at a time," said Williams.

Immediately after the robbery the Broward Sheriff's Office set up a perimeter in an effort to catch the person responsible. Nearby Pompano Beach Elementary and Pompano Beach High School were both been placed on precautionary lockdowns during the investigation.
