Broward Sheriff’s Office-involved crash reported on I-95 in Pompano Beach

The Broward Sheriff's Office said Interstate 95 south will be closed until further notice in Pompano Beach after a police chase ended in a crash on Friday morning.

Few details have been released, but the BSO said deputies responded to reports of a theft at a local business near the 300 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach around 11 a.m.

According to investigators, while deputies were at the scene, the suspect attacked a deputy then fled the scene in a vehicle.

A pursuit then began but ended in a crash on I-95 south just north of Atlantic Boulevard, according to the BSO.

The unidentified suspect was taken into custody and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said that I-95 south at Atlantic Boulevard would be shut down until further notice, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
