Poll Finds Hillary Clinton Popular With Florida Voters

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - Democrat Hillary Clinton continues to be the favorite potential candidate of Florida voters in the 2016 presidential race.

In a recently released Quinnipiac University poll, the former First Lady lead former Republican Gov. Jeb Bush by a margin of 49 percent to 42 percent in a hypothetical contest.

Clinton led Bush by similar margins in Quinnipiac polls in May and January and has larger leads over other potential Republican candidates including U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.

The poll also asked registered Republicans about their preference for the GOP nomination in 2016. Among a list of potential candidates, Bush led the field with 21 percent, while Rubio received 18 percent and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz got 10 percent, according to the poll.

The Connecticut-based Quinnipiac surveyed 1,251 registered Florida voters from July 17 to July 21.
