MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police have arrested a man who allegedly threatened a woman with a firearm and stole her jewelry.

Rafael Gomez, 22, is being held without bond on an armed robbery charge.

Investigators said the victim has known Gomez for a few months and agreed to buy a pair of shoes from a friend of his. She told police that Gomez drove to her Miami-Dade apartment and invited her to his car where the shoes were located.

As she sat down inside the passenger seat, Gomez pulled out a gun, put it to her face and tried to steal her gold chain, according to police.

A struggle ensued before Gomez and another suspect, also in the car, were able to take the chain.

No shots were fired.

Police said the second suspect is unknown at this time.
