MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Authorities are searching for a suspect who they say dragged a police officer while trying to drive away from being detained.

Around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday the Miami-Dade Police Department received a fraud call from the TD Bank located at 16200 NW 57th Avenue in Miami Lakes.

Upon arrival, the responding officer was told by bank employees that the suspect was still on the premises.

The officer approached the suspect as he was trying to get into his vehicle and grabbed him by the shirt.

The suspect was able to get into his vehicle and start it.  He then drove off, dragging the officer.

The officer sustained injuries to his hands and legs before letting go of the suspect.

Authorities describe the suspect as a heavy set black male.

If you have any information about the suspect contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
