Police: Man Who Kidnapped FIU Student Arrested

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Police said they have arrested the man who kidnapped a Florida International University student at a bus stop near the main campus.
According to authorities, 42-year-old Carlos Arana pulled up the bus stop at SW 107th Ave. and SW 17th St. and began chatting with a female student.
Arana reportedly told the student he was a masseuse and offered her a ride to her job, but she declined.
The girl told police that Arana kept pestering her about giving her a lift. After several requests, the student said Arana threatened her by saying, "I have a knife, get in the car." Scared for her life, the girl said she got in Arana's car.
The police report states Arana began driving towards Dolphin Mall where the girl worked. Along the way, he allegedly began fondling the victim's breasts over her blouse. The student said she had to repeatedly push his hands of her.
Arana also reportedly grabbed the victim's cellphone out her hands and said, "Let me dial my number on your phone," which he proceeded to do.
According to the police report, Arana gave the student her phone back, told her to go to work and told her his name was "Oliver."
As Arana drove away, the girl was able to write down the tag of Arana's vehicle, which was an older model white Jeep Cherokee.
On Monday, police were able to locate Arana.
Miami-Dade Police took Arana to the Midwest District for questioning, where he was subsequently arrested on an armed kidnapping charge.
