Police Locate Suspected Hit & Run Driver

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police have located a woman they believe was involved in a fatal hit and run early Sunday morning.

It at NW 28th Street and 22nd Avenue shortly before 8:00 a.m. The 66-year old man who was hit was taken to the hospital where he died.

The driver, a woman who has yet to be identified, fled the scene in a red Toyota according to police.

Authorities say a witness to the incident followed the woman for a few blocks.

"I didn't know the tag number but I knew what kind of car it was so I told the police what color it was but I didn't get the tag number so I just told them basically what area it was in," said Tonia Moore, who was on her way to work when she came upon the hit and run.

The vehicle was found and recovered at 24th Court and NW 21st Terrace.
