Police Investigating Boynton Beach Cyclist Fatality

BOYNTON BEACH (CBSMiami) – Boynton Beach police are investigating a traffic accident on Friday night that left a cyclist dead.

Police said the accident happened at 8:33 p.m. when a man cycling in the bicycle lane east on Boynton Beach Boulevard was struck when a man driving a silver 2013 Ford Taurus lost control of his vehicle.

He is believed to have suffered from a medical condition that may have caused him to lose control of the car, according to authorities.

A female passenger was taken to Bethesda Hospital for precautionary measures. She has since been released.

The bicyclist died at the scene.

Police have not released the identities of the man or the woman.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
