Police Investigate Shooting Of Elderly Man In Miami Beach

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Beach police are investigating the shooting of an elderly man Friday afternoon.

Police said it happened just before 5 p.m. in the area of 2nd Street and Meridian Avenue.

Danielle, a neighbor, said she was sleeping when the gunfire, followed by her dog barking, woke her up.

She ran to her balcony and snapped a picture of a man in his 60s lying on the ground.

She said she wishes her dog Murphy could talk because she saw it all.

She said, "I was definitely shaking and I didn't know what happened."

Danielle said she overheard the alleged shooter tell police the elderly man walked into his home while he was in the shower.

Police detained the alleged shooter for questioning.

The shooting victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
