Police Investigate Possible Murder, Attempted Suicide In Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - City of Miami Police detectives are investigating a murder, attempted suicide in the Coral Way area.

Police said they responded to the area of S.W. 23rd Avenue and S.W. 16th Terrace, shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, in reference to a man and a woman being shot.

Both the man and the woman were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where the woman later died, police said.

The man was in critical condition on Thursday evening, according to authorities.

"The facts surrounding the incident appear to be a murder, attempted suicide, where the father shot and killed the mother and turned the gun on himself," according to detectives.

Police said the couple's young son called police regarding the incident.
