Police investigate fatal shooting of NW Dade teen

Death investigation in NW Miami-Dade

MIAMI - An investigation is underway into the fatal shooting of a teen in northwest Miami-Dade.

According to police, just before 11 p.m., they received a ShotSpotter alert in the area of NW 74th Street and NW 23rd Court.

More than a dozen police officers were sent to check it out.

Arriving officers found the body of a teen who had been shot.

Neighbors said they are sick and tired of the violence in the same area where their kids play.

"It's something horrible. It's something you don't expect every day. I've been living here for about four or five years now, I live here with my kids, this neighborhood wasn't like this," said neighbor Fernando Hernandez.

Police have not released the teen's name at this time, but did say he was known to investigators from previous shooting investigations.
