Police Arrest Man Accused Of Stealing Safe From School

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police have made an arrest in connection to a safe stolen from a Miami school.

The stolen safe was filled with cash students from  La Progresiva Presbyterian School had saved for their field trip and retreats.

On Thursday, Miami police booked 35-year old Jose Galdames - the man they say did it.

Surveillance video released by the school showed a man ransacking the school, scouring the kitchen and rummaging through the main office - at one point smashing a camera.

All this before he got away with a safe with more than $5,000 in it around 1 a.m. on Monday.

Galdames is now facing charges for burglary and grand theft.
