Plantation Officer Injured In Sunrise Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Police are investigating a crash which injured a Plantation officer on Thursday morning in Sunrise.

Authorities said the crash happened along the southbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway and Sunrise Boulevard.

Police said the officer hit a wall and a tree after he tried to avoid debris on the road, swerving, and losing control of his vehicle.

He was transported to Broward General with minor injuries and is expected to fully recover.

Images from Chopper 4 showed the police cruiser near some trees on the side of the highway.

Traffic continues to be very heavy around the area.

No word if any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
