"Piano Man" To Ring In New Year At BB&T Center
FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - For the first time ever, the 'piano man' will be in South Florida to ring in New Year's Eve.
Legendary musician Billy Joel ring in 2016 with a concert at the BB&T Center in Sunrise.
"It will be a great night of music and fun for all of South Florida as we welcome the New Year with the sixth best-selling recording artist of all time," said Peter Luukko, Executive Chairman of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment.
Over the course of his quarter century career, Joel has sold more than 150 million records. The singer/songwriter/composer is the third best-selling solo artist and one of the highest grossing touring artists in the world.
In 2014, the six time Grammy winner received both The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song and the once-in-a-century ASCAP Centennial Award, which is presented to American music icons in recognition of their incomparable accomplishments in their respective music genres and beyond.
In 2013, Joel received The Kennedy Center Honors. He's also been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received numerous industry awards.
