Police: Phony Botox Doc Busted

Pembroke Pines (CBSMiami) -- Pembroke Pines Police arrested a woman Wednesday accused of practicing medicine without a license, using her garage as a doctor's office.

Alejandra Tobon, 43, faces charges of Unlicensed Practice of Health Care Profession and Practice of Medicine without a License, a third degree felony.

According to a police department spokesman, Tobon was performing cosmetic procedures in her garage, which she converted to look like a doctor's office.

The woman is accused of administering Botox injections, filler injections, vitamin injections, plasma therapy and Carboxy therapy.

Neighbors said they would often see Tobon wearing scrubs and women frequented the townhouse.

"I'm in shock, you know, because sometimes you see the neighbors walking around, saying 'Hi' in the morning. But that's it. So I'm in shock," Dulce Lopez told CBS4′s Lauren Pastrana.

Detectives spent much of the Wednesday at the home before eventually allowing visitors to enter.

The people who went inside did not want to comment, but neighbors expressed their surprise at the allegations.

Police said the first heard about Tobon's alleged actions from a woman who claims she had Botox injections done at the home in December 2013.

She had an adverse reaction, investigators said.

"It's crazy," neighbor Carmen Sanchez said. "That's crazy because going to someone's house and doing something like that, it has to be crazy."

CBS 4 News did a little digging. We found that Alejandra Tobon is licensed to work in the medical field. The Florida Department of Health's website shows that she has a clear and active license as a massage therapist and an electrologist.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Anyone with information should contact Pembroke Pines Police at 954-431-2200.
