MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating how a Pembroke Pines police SUV ended up in a canal Monday afternoon.

CBS Miami Chopper4 was over the scene at Krome Avenue, just south of US-27, where aerial footage showed several Pembroke Pines police units and a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue truck.

The Pines unit was partially submerged with airbags deployed and windshield wipers on.

Authorities say the Pines officer was heading home after work, when her work SUV wound up going off of Krome Avenue.

The officer was not hurt and did not need to be transported to an area hospital.

Pembroke Pines units responded to the scene of the crash even though their jurisdiction is about 26 miles from where the crash happened.
