Pedestrian Killed By Hit And Run Driver In Southwest Miami-Dade

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A fatal hit and run left a pedestrian dead.

Now, investigators are still looking for the driver who never stopped.

It happened at SW 152nd Street and SW 128th Avenue.

Hours after the crash, CBS4's Ashley Dyer witnessed another accident in the same spot. A man was driving home when another driver, in a white pickup truck cut him off two times.

To avoid being hit he swerved into palm trees.

Drivers who take Southwest 152nd Steet daily say they've witnessed countless collisions.

"It's getting ridiculous. Florida is becoming a place.. drivers make their own rules," said Morino Pinto, a man who drives this road daily.

Pinto witnessed the aftermath of this morning's fatal hit and run crash and says he's saddened to know the driver never stopped.

"You just don't leave a human being on the side of the road like that. That person maybe has kids, has a family or a wife," said Morino.

Miami-Dade police say the fatal accident happened around 5 a.m. when a pedestrian was struck.

"This is very sad. It's very tragic. Cars drive here without control, very fast. Speeding," said Stephanie Hernandez.

"He was speeding up like crazy," says a man involved in the accident we witnessed. He says he had to swerve into palm trees in order to avoid being hit by another driver. He was just minutes from his house when the accident happened. The driver who hit him never stopped.

"There's always some crazy guy trying to show off," he said.

"It makes me feel terrible actually. You cannot trust humanity.. you'd think someone would stop and see what happened to the other guy," the man involved said.

Traffic homicide detectives are still piecing together the fatal hit and run. They have yet to identify the driver responsible.
