Pedestrian Killed Crossing SR 7 In Central Broward

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Traffic homicide detectives with the Broward Sheriff's Office are investigating a a deadly crash that killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning in Central Broward.

It happened around 3:39 a.m. on South State Road 7.

Detectives said Alastair Crowell was driving his 1993 Buick Regal southbound on State Road 7 in the left thru lane approaching the intersection of S.W. 16 Street.

A 47-year-old pedestrian was walking westbound crossing State Road 7.

Crowell said he saw the pedestrian near the median and moved into the center thru lane but the pedestrian did not notice vehicle and continued across the roadway into the center thru lane.

The man was struck by the passenger side front bumper of Crowell's car.  He died at the scene.

Crowell remained at the crash scene.
