PD: Burglar Entered Two Homes & Stole Cars While Homeowners Slept

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While residents in two homes were sleeping, police said a burglar made his way inside and took personal belongings and two cars.

The Miami Police Department said one of the home's security cameras captured the subject walking around the home.

At 4511 Lake Road, around 4 AM Monday, the first burglary took place.

Inside the home you see a suspect manage to just walk around casually as it was his home," said Officer Kenia Reyes.

Security camera images from that home showed the subject with long dreadlocks casually moving about in the home.

The subject took the keys to the homeowner's 2014 Range Rover, which was found abandoned later.

About an hour after the first burglary, a second burglary occurred at 615 Melaleuca Lane.

That's where an iPad was stolen along with the keys to the homeowner's 2011 Audi A7.

The car was also located nearby abandoned.

"As the morning kept going we learned that three other vehicles had been broken-into but they weren't stolen so luckily no one was hurt," said Reyes.

Police are calling him a bold burglar, brazen enough to strike in Bay Point, one of Miami's most exclusive gated communities.

"If he was able to casually walk inside these two homes, he was casual enough to bypass security," said Reyes.

If you know who may have been responsible for the break-ins, contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (4877).
