Passenger Falls From Cruise Ship, Prompts Coast Guard Search

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A search-and-rescue is underway after a 46-year-old man fell overboard from a cruise ship near the Florida Keys.

It happened Saturday around 3 a.m. off the coast of Key Largo.

The Key West Coast Guard said David Mossman, from Texas, fell about 100 feet from the 10th deck of the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast was issued and the Coast Guard Cutter Gannet launched the search, including aircraft and a helicopter.

So far, crews have covered 946 square nautical miles and are expected to continue the search into the night.
