FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Teachers at one Parkland school are fed up with the Broward school districts demands and are doing something about it.

All this week teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are doing what they call a "work to contract" protest. That means they are not leading extracurricular activities, planning or grading outside of the 7:15 a.m to 2:45 p.m. work hours.

The Broward Teachers Union supports the action. They say the demands placed on teachers each day fall outside of what is possible to accomplish during normal working hours.

"We're hoping to accomplish that the district sees that teachers are professionals and they are due their right to work to their contract and not be expected to work the overtime without the pay," said Broward Teachers Union President Anna Fusco.

The school district said its aware of the teachers' demands. They add that they respect and value their teachers and their dedication to providing high quality instruction.
