Panthers G Roberto Luongo Injured In 1st Period

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Panthers goalie Robert Luongo has left after the first period against the Carolina Hurricanes because of an upper body injury and won't return to the game.

Hurricanes forward Radek Dvorak crashed into Luongo at 12:48 of the first, driving him into the back of the net and knocking the goal off its moorings. Dvorak was given a major penalty for charging and was ejected.

Luongo finished the period, in which he stopped 11 of 12 shots.
