SUNRISE, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — The Florida Panthers made an early-season trade on Thursday, adding a defensive prospect to their stable of up-and-coming youngsters.

The Panthers acquired defenseman Jesse Blacker from the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday for defenseman Colby Robak.

The Ducks also are giving Florida draft considerations.

Blacker made his NHL debut last week with the Ducks before being sent back to the team's AHL Norfolk affiliate. He has five assists in 15 AHL games this season and was Toronto's second-round pick (58th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Robak had three assists and 25 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Panthers between 2011 and 2014.  He appeared in seven games this season, registering zero points and two penalty minutes.
