Panther Found Dead, Struck By Car In SW Florida

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – For the 10th time this year, a panther has been struck and killed by a car.

The remains of an uncollared 1-year-old female panther was found on SR29 in Collier County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The cat's body will be sent to the FWC Gainesville lab for necropsy.

FWC reports this is the 10th road death of a panther in 2015. Sixteen panthers total have died in 2015.
