Organizations Feed 800 Needy Families In Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Two tractor trailers loaded with food pulled up to a park in Fort Lauderdale to feed 800 needy families.

The event started at 11:00 a.m. at Joseph C. Carter Park located at 1450 W Sunrise Blvd.

Feed the Children and PepsiCo united with Joshua's Heart Foundation to distribute 25-pound boxes of food and 10-pound boxes of essentials. The boxes are designed to help feed a family of four for up to one week.

According to Feed The Children, more than 19 percent of Fort Lauderdale households face hunger.
