MIAMI (CBSMiami) – North Miami residents are probably doing their best touchdown dance Thursday night. That's because one of their parks has a brand new field thanks to the Orange Bowl.

The Orange Bowl Committee held a grand opening for the Orange Bowl Field at Ives Estates Park. The celebration was open to the public, and included free food and drinks, live music, family-fun activities and more.

The multi-million dollar renovation to the field included a new state-of-the-art synthetic turf field and scoreboard.

The upgrade is the Orange Bowl's third Legacy Gift to the South Florida community.

Miami-Dade Commissioner Barbara Jordan helped kickoff renovation talks by sending a letter to the Orange Bowl Committee asking for help.

While she was happy her dialogue initiated the upgrade, she gave all the credit to the Orange Bowl for their gift.

"Without the willingness of an organization that's willing to take the mantle and move with it and make that dream a reality, that's what the Orange Bowl Committee did for this community," Jordan said.

She now says the park can act as a teaching lesson for youngsters.

"When you look out here we can say to young people 'anything is possible," she said.

In total, the Orange Bowl Legacy Gift projects have provided about $10 million worth of improvements toward the beautification of South Florida communities and recreational park activities for local families.

If you want to a get a glimpse of the new field, Ives Estates Park is located at 20901 NE 16th Ave.
