Open Carry Bill Shot Down For Good

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A proposal allowing people to openly carry handguns is not moving forward in Florida.

Miami Sen. Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he will not bring the proposal up for a hearing.

Diaz de la Portilla has the power to kill any bill that comes through his committee by refusing to hear it.

The open carry proposal was passed in the state House, but will not be taken up by the Senate.
