One Shot, Two Detained After Sunrise Burglary

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – Three people wanted in connection to a burglary in Sunrise are now in custody, with one of them in the hospital.

Sunrise Police told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that one of the burglars was shot by a homeowner.

Chopper4 was over a Sunrise home at 4380 NW 103rd Terrace and there were signs of a violent incident.

Glass was shattered by two sliding glass doors behind the home on the Welleby Isles neighborhood.

Detectives looked at the damage and debris left behind.

Sunrise police said three people had gone into the home which was occupied sometime in the morning hours. That's when the homeowner spotted the burglary suspects and shot one of them inside the home.

The two others ran away from the home but were later detained nearby.

Fire rescue confirmed a man has been taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound. His condition is not known.

Police are not searching for any additional suspects. They will be looking into whether the shooting was justified.

So far neither the homeowner nor the suspects have been identified. It's not known what charges they will face.

The Welleby Isles neighborhood was sealed off with yellow crime scene tape since shortly after police were called at 10:52 a.m. Only residents were allow in or out and had to show police their identification.

D'Oench made contact by telephone with a person who lives in the home but was told there would be "no comment."
