One Person In Custody After Fort Lauderdale Crash

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – One person is in custody following a wild scene in Fort Lauderdale and police say it involved a car that was reported stolen.

Fort Lauderdale police are investigating a massive scene involving three cars on a rainy Saturday morning.

A couple of cars were struck by a silver stolen Mercedes, police said.

"The police were chasing this dude and next thing I know he ran into my work truck and it is what it is. I just thank God no one was hurt," said one of the people involved in the crash.

Eric Eife's truck was hit too.

"Just trying to figure it out. talking to police and giving them all my information. and from what I understand a couple of people went to the hospital," said Eife.

Brenda Byne's husband was taken to the hospital. He was getting his car fixed when it was hit by the Mercedes as well.

"At least nobody got seriously hurt...I can't believe this," said Bynes.

Police were reportedly chasing down the Mercedes when the driver crashed into the two cars.

The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken into custody.

Fort Lauderdale Police closed off 8th Street and NW 9th Avenue where the chase ended.

Luckily only minor injuries were reported. Authorities have not released the identity of the person taken into custody.
