Officials: NYC Bombing Suspect Set Off Pipe Bomb In His Backyard

NEW YORK (CBSMiami) -- The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee held up a copy of a bloody page from bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami's journal during a hearing on domestic terror.
"He talks about god willing the sound of bombs will be heard in the streets, gunshots to your police, death to your oppression," said Texas Rep. Mike McCaul.
Rahami is now facing at least ten federal charges, including the use of a weapon of mass destruction and bombing a public place.
"In the near future, it is our intention to bring the defendant to federal district court of the southern district of New York, which has jurisdiction over the Manhattan neighborhood where more than 30 innocent people were wounded and countless others were gravely endangered by his bombs," said U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
Investigators say they also found a video that shows Rahami setting off what appears to be a pipe bomb in his backyard in Elizabeth, New Jersey earlier this month.
They believe it may have been practice for Saturday's attacks in Manhattan and the Jersey Shore.
On Wednesday, the FBI asked for help locating two people shown in surveillance video apparently removing an unexploded pressure cooker from a piece of luggage Saturday, just a few blocks from where the other bomb detonated.
"We have no reason to believe they are connected. I can't stress enough they are witnesses at this time," said James Waters, NYPD Chief of Counterterrorism.
Authorities say the men took the suitcase. Investigators want it back for evidence.
