Officer Released From Hospital After Being Intentionally Struck By Car

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The injured North Miami police officer who, officials say, was intentionally struck by a suspect driving a stolen vehicle has been released from the hospital.

Around 4:35 p.m. Friday, authorities said the officer attempted to stop the car at 143 Street and N.E. 2nd Court when the suspect deliberately struck him.

"The officer fired his gun, striking the driver," police said in a statement.

The injured suspect was taken into police custody, listed in good condition. A passenger also inside the vehicle was taken into custody, as well.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
