Woman stabbed, killed inside Oakland Park apartment, sheriff's office says

Deadly stabbing at Oakland Park apartment complex under investigation

An investigation is underway in Oakland Park after the Broward Sheriff's Office said a woman was stabbed and killed inside an apartment early Tuesday morning.

Deputies said they responded to reports of a domestic incident just before 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors describe disturbing scene

Several neighbors told CBS News Miami they awoke to chaos and a sight they will not forget.

"I saw the father yesterday with the baby playing on the slide," said Jonna Abate, who said she knows the family.

She told CBS News Miami that the couple, their three children, and the children's grandparents live in the home.

"I look and there's a body on the floor, I saw the body," Abate said.

Other neighbors said they walked out to the same scene.

"They opened the door, and when I walked back to go home, I saw a body laying on the floor," said Anae.

Suspect found injured, deputies say

Deputies said they then made contact with the suspect, identified as Mario Alejandro Ramirez. He appeared to be suffering from a self‑inflicted injury, and deputies struggled with him while trying to apply pressure to stop his bleeding.

The sheriff's office said deputies were eventually able to control Ramirez, and he was arrested. Oakland Park Fire Rescue transported him to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. He now faces one count of second‑degree murder.
