No Bond For Escapee Arrested After Massive Manhunt

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A man who prompted a massive manhunt through parts of Miami on Friday will not be released on bond.
Ivan Zapata, 21, remains in the hospital he was taken to after being arrested Friday afternoon.
Zapata is accused of kidnapping, beating, burning and threatening to kill his 20-year-old girlfriend since December, according to his arrest report but that is not what prompted the manhunt.
Earlier, Zapata was taken to the hospital after a reported suicide attempt, a source told CBS4's Jim DeFede. While Zapata was in the hospital, his girlfriend called police saying she had been sexually assaulted by him.
When cops went to arrest Zapata, police said, he attacked an officer and escaped.
"Once he released his handcuffs to get dressed, he viciously attacked the officer, a fight broke out between the subject and the officer in the hallway and the stairwell. He tried to remove the officers gun... he flees... and carjacking," said Juan Pérez, Miami-Dade's Deputy Police Director.
Authorities searched for him by air and on the ground as schools in the area went on lock down.
On Friday, around 2:30 p.m., Zapata was captured in Hialeah Gardens.

He is facing a slew of charges including attempted murder, sexual battery, kidnapping, escape, carjacking/robbery, and aggravated battery.
Zapata has a criminal history that includes a 2011 for selling marijuana on school grounds and in 2012 for child abuse, domestic violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery
