No Bond For 59-Year-Old 'Stalker' Accused Of Murder

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There are new details in the case of a Miami man who police said walked in to a station and confessed to killing his girlfriend.
"Yeah I feel terrible. She was my little niece, my little cousin and it's bad," said Victor Soler.
Soler is the cousin of the 28-year-old victim, Cylkia Gerena.
He is completely distraught, as if her grandfather.
"Of course I loved her. I loved her with all my heart. I don't know why he killed her. I cannot condemn anyone. Only God can condemn someone like that," Jose Maldonado said.
Miami police say the body of Maldonado's granddaughter was discovered in her apartment. She was stabbed in the neck.
"She was a sweetheart. She was a hard working girl who came from Puerto Rico a year and six months ago looking for a better life. She worked two jobs and was always with her family and with is," Soler said. "She was special and very smart and beautiful and a very talented family girl. I feel terrible."
The suspect appeared before a judge Friday afternoon.
"Mr. Enriquez-Polledo, you are charged with first-degree murder," the judge said. "No bond."
Police said Carlos Enriquez-Polledo walked in to Miami police headquarters Thursday and confessed that he had killed his girlfriend and led them to her apartment.
He later said it happened during a lovers' quarrel.
"Significant other is the word he used," Soler said. "No he was not her boyfriend."
Soler said Enriquez-Polledo was a stalker instead of a boyfriend.
Soler believes he followed Gerena from her job where she worked at a hotel in Miami.
He says Enriquez-Polledo sent these flowers to Gerena's mother's home after her death, with a card saying 'te amo,' meaning 'I love you' in Spanish.
Four days earlier, Gerena had posted a photo on Facebook of burnt roses.
Her death baffles loved ones.
"That's the $1 million question, not even we know. We don't know about this gentleman, if you want to call him a gentleman," Soler said.
Enriquez-Polledo was arrested in 1990 on burglary and cocaine charges.
Gerena's 8-year-old daughter is being taken care of by a grandmother.
The child's father lives in New York.
Gerena's family is trying to raise the money needed to send her body home to Puerto Rico.
