New Bridge Opens On FL Turnpike

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- A new bridge opened at the Interchange of Florida's Turnpike and I-595 on Friday.

Florida Department of Transportation opened the bridge at 5:00 a.m. for motorists traveling to eastbound and westbound I-595.

Those coming from the Southbound Turnpike, traveling east to SR 7/ US 441, SR 84, I-595, I-95 and US 1, should stay in the right lane and continue along the existing ramp.

Motorists traveling west to SR 84, I-595 will be directed to stay in the left lane and continue over the newly constructed bridge.

Those coming from the Northbound Turnpike, traveling east to SR 7/ US 441, SR 84, I-595, I-95 and US 1, should stay in the right lane and proceed underneath the newly constructed bridge.

Drivers traveling west to SR 84, I-595, will be directed to stay in the left lane and continue along the existing ramp.

The bridge is part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project which is expected to be completed by Summer 2014.
