NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) -- A family has their neighbor to thank for helping them escape a house fire early Sunday morning.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was dispatched at approximately 3 a.m. to find a large fire coming from the back of the home.

"The fire was contained to the exterior of the house, however, we did have some smoke and fire that did extend into the house," said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Vince Lombardi.

The blaze was quickly extinguished by fire rescue units.

A neighbor noticed the flames and rushed to knock on the door, waking up the residents inside.

"I was in my room sleeping and my daughter ran in saying, 'Mom! Run! Run! There's a fire!' And I panicked and fainted," said Onelia Alfonso, who lives at the home.

The good Samaritan's efforts were enough and everyone made it out safely, unharmed.

The fire is under investigation, though authorities believe it may have been electrical.
