Murder Fugitive Found Hiding Out In Keys After 3 Years On Run

KEY WEST (CBSMiami) -- A fugitive wanted for murder has been arrested in the Keys after going on the run for three years.

Jacqueline Rutherford-Brown, 21, who also goes by the name Jackie Brown, was charged with first degree murder by Chicago police following a stabbing incident at a party in 2013, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Authorities said during an attempted robbery, Rutherford-Brown and an accomplice stabbed someone, who later died.

After fleeing the state of Illinois, the Chicago Police Dept. enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in Key West to locate and arrest Rutherford-Brown.

She was found living at Key West Naval Base with her spouse, investigators said.

"Deputy Marshals, NCIS investigators, Monroe County Sheriff's and Key West Police detectives made entry into a room at the Sigsbee Navy Base Lodge and arrested Rutherford-Brown without incident," U.S. Marshal Amos Rojas Jr. announced in a press statement.

She is expected to be extradited back to Chicago in the coming weeks.
