TAMARAC (CBSMiami) -- A man has died and a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy was injured Friday in a late night crash.

Deputy Daniel Park was assisting another officer with a traffic stop near the 7700 block of West Commercial Blvd, according to BSO Spokeswoman Gina Carter.

Both police vehicles were pulled to the side of the road with their emergency lights flashing when William Grundy, 59, heading west in a Chevrolet El Camino, failed to move over and struck the back of the deputy's car and into Deputy Park, himself, who was standing just outside the car.

Deputy Park was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Grundy was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving to the hospital.

An investigation is underway.
