Motorcylists Plan Critical Mass To Promote Safety

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Recent motorcycle crashes and deaths have prompted a new event called Critical Mass for Motorcycles.

In a press release, representatives for South Florida motorcycle riders said they plan to meet at the Tropical Park entrance on Bird Road Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. to ride through the streets of Miami and create awareness for drivers to share the road.

They encourage any motorcyclists that want to participate to join them for the first-ever event taking place in the Miami area.

Many motorcycle riders taking part in the evening ride said texting, cell phone usage, aggressive driving, road-rage and tailgating have led to dangerous driving conditions for motorcyclists on the roads.

People taking part in the event hope to bring awareness to sharing the road with drivers, bicyclists and motorcyclists safely.

Critical Mass events for bicyclists are scheduled to take place in downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale Friday, January 31st.
