Motorcyclists Killed In Violent I-95 Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Florida Highway Patrol reports two men were killed Saturday night when their motorcycles were involved in a crash at approximately 9 p.m.

According to FHP, the driver of a Honda Accord lost control while traveling south on Interstate 95 in the outside lanes.  The vehicle veered across the lanes hitting a concrete median wall.

The 54-year-old driver of a motorcycle, Kevin Jackson, veered and struck a concrete median. The impact threw him from the motorcycle.

A second motorcycle driven by Andrew Jackson, 50, struck the Accord that crashed as it rotated off the median.

The motorcyclists were killed.  They were wearing helmets, according to FHP.

Prior to the crash, FHP reported witnesses saw motorcyclists driving at a high rate of speed.

It's not clear why the driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Patricia O'Neal of Pompano Beach, lost control and FHP is investigating what led to that.

O'Neal has serious injuries.

The southbound lanes of I-95 reopened just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
