Morris: Winning First Game is 'Huge,' Puts You in 'Driver's Seat'

With a trip to the College World Series up for grabs, Jim Morris and the Miami Hurricanes baseball team are lasered in on VCU, one of their last remaining hurdles to Omaha.

"They've got my respect immediately because I looked at that regional and that might be the toughest of any of them," Morris said on Thursday's Big O Show, hosted by Omar Kelly and Miko Grimes. "You probably didn't think VCU [would win it]. But the real deal is they've gotten hot, they've got a good club, they've got a young coach that has really got those guys going -- a very feisty team that plays hard.

"You've got to throw your best guy out there that you think is going to win. [Winning] that first game is huge because it gets you in that driver's seat. Then you only feel like you've got to split to get there."

With Morris set to retire in three years, the Canes will look to pad his already sparkling legacy.

Listen to the game on Friday at noon, broadcasted right here.
