Monroe County Detectives Investigating Boat Related Thefts

MARATHON (CBSMiami) – A number of boating accessory thefts have been reported throughout Marathon.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said on Monday the robbers are stripping lower units from boat engines, taking the GPS and propellers.
Six different locations throughout Marathon have been hit with these thefts. At some of the locations the thieves were unsuccessful in removing the lower unit or the GPS. One report said the boat cover was cut up.
Deputies believe the thefts are related.
