MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Extra security is visible on this Thanksgiving holiday at Miami International Airport as travelers head out and arrive in South Florida.

Security lines were moving smoothly and most departing flights were leaving on time.

There were a few delays on arriving flights due to weather issues around the country.

Clarissa Stapleton and her friend Atarah White arrived Thursday morning MIA on a packed American Airlines flight from Houston.

They said despite added security everything went smoothly.

"Flying the day of the holiday is way easier than the day before" said White who is from Miami.

They are among the more than 3 million people travelling by plane this holiday at a time when the threat of terrorism is on everybody's plate.

President Obama reassured everyone saying there is no specific or credible threat against the US this holiday weekend.

Still, he warned all Americans to remain vigilant.

"If you see something suspicious, say something. That's always helpful. But otherwise Americans should go about their usual Thanksgiving weekend activities" said the President this week.

The president's statement came less than two weeks after 130 people were killed in a series of terror attacks across Paris.

And just days after the state department issued a worldwide travel alert due to increased activity from groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda.

Federal, state, and local authorities across the country have since stepped up security.

The Ajmera family arrived at MIA extra early prepared for long lines en route to JFK airport they are going to visit family and were surprised at how short the lines were through security.

"The tickets were cheaper on the holiday" noted Mehul Ajmera.

His wife said she packed winter clothes for the kids.

"It's chilly up there but it will be fun" said Sweta Ajmera.
