Mike Wallace is NFL's 6th Highest Paid Player in 2014

Most avid NFL fans know Miami Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace is among the highest paid players at his position after signing a five-year, $60 million deal with Miami in March 2013. But did you know he's among the six highest paid players in the sport after taxes in 2014?

According to CBS Sports, Wallace will earn about $9.86 million (out of $17.05 million) after taxes this year, ranking only behind Atlanta's Matt Ryan, Baltimore's Joe Flacco, Dallas' Tony Romo, Detroit's Matt Stafford, and Cleveland's Joe Haden. Wallace receives a boost with no personal income tax in the state of Florida.

Only money earned (including bonuses) in the calendar year was considered while all totals excluded endorsement and marketing income. This makes Wallace the NFL's highest paid wide receiver this year. The next highest paid player at his position is Bears receiver and former Dolphin Brandon Marshall at 12th.

Heading into Week 17 against the Jets, Wallace has 67 receptions, 862 yards, and 10 touchdowns on the season. Meanwhile, Pro Football Focus grades him as the 37th best receiver in 2014. Rookie wideout and teammate Jarvis Landry comes in at 17th.
