MIAMI (CBSMiami/NSF) -- First lady Michelle Obama made two campaign appearances in Florida on Friday to help support Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist.

"I am so happy to be here for Charlie Crist. He understands the importance of education. That's why he saved 20,000 teacher jobs," said the first lady while at a rally at the Betty Ferguson Recreational Complex Gymnasium in Miami Gardens.

She was also trying to help motivate supporters to go to the polls.

Democrats outnumber Republicans in Florida but if they stay home as they often do in the midterms it could spell disaster for Crist

The first lady also attended an event in Orlando in the morning.
