Miccosukee Tribe Of Indians Shares Exclusive Insight Into Their Long Existence In The Everglades

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, in an effort to connect to the local community, is sharing more of their native culture than ever before, with a focus on their arts, customs and history.

Much of the rich heritage of its 600 members, has remained a secret, but the tribe recently gave CBS4 the opportunity to highlight their long existence in the Everglades, spiritual life and native language.

Set in the remote waters of the Everglades, tribal members Joe Cypress, dressed in authentic Miccosukee wardrobe, along with Talbert Cypress, tell the story of deep respect for the land and natural resources.  The tribe also refurbished a 20 ft. historic dugout canoe for the commercial production.

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians encourages visitors to learn more about tribal life by connecting through social media, their website and by visiting the Miccosukee Indian Village.
