MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A community is waiting for answers following a teen's arrest for a horrible crime on a school campus.

An 18-year-old is in jail, charged with raping a 15-year-old girl on the campus of Miami Springs High School.

According to the arrest report, the victim and her attacker had a previous sexual relationship.

Police say late last month, Jimmy Lee Boatwright raped the victim while they were on school grounds.

"There are allegations of consensual contact and allegations of unconsensual contact," said the state prosecutor handling the case.

When interviewed, police say Boatwright denied the sexual intercourse.

The arrested report detailed the consensual sex, and as for the allegations said "while on school grounds, she was sexually assaulted by the defendant. The victim disclosed while in a secluded area, the defendant turned her around, lowered her undergarment and forced…intercourse on her."

Boatwright had support from his family during a court hearing, with his mother pleading with the judge to allow him home on house arrest.

"A home program so he can finish school," she said to the judge.

The judge did grant the teen house arrest while setting bail at over $32,000.

Several students from Miami Springs High spoke in support of Boatwright.

"To be honest I do not think it is true, I do not think he did it," said Ja'sniya Harrington.

"Yeah, me either," added Alaija Lopez. "He was a good student. He had a scholarship for basketball."

He is being held without bond.

Miami-Dade Schools sent CBS4 the following statement:

"These allegations are disturbing and understandably upsetting as Miami-Dade County Public Schools goes to great lengths to ensure students and staff are provided with a safe and secure environment. We are fully cooperating with the law enforcement agency investigating this case."

MDCPS also told CBS4 that the incident happened after school hours.
