Miami Pastor Asks For Thief To Bring Back Stolen Keyboard

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A South Florida pastor is picking up the pieces after a Miami church was vandalized.
Pastor Salim Auguste says a thief stole a $5,000 Yamaha keyboard from his church early Wednesday morning.
"We have to go back and replace everything," said the pastor. "It's very difficult I know for people to work but at the same time, it is unexpected to see people come into the house of the Lord and do such a thing."
He said Miami Police called him after someone threw a large rock through a window at the Bethany Baptist Church then broke in.
"About 9:20 [p.m.], all of a sudden around 2:30 [a.m.] I receive a call, something is going on at the church," said the pastor.
Motion detectors set off an alarm so the pastor said the criminal got away with just the keyboard from his church at NW 7th Avenue and 54th Street. The keyboard was an important part of the services.
"It mean a lot, help the people to worship. It bring joy in their heart while they are worshiping," said the pastor.
He says he forgives the person who did this.
"We're still praying for that person, that God may change his heart and return the keyboard," said the pastor.
The insurance may only cover some of the loss which is why the pastor is asking the criminal to bring the keyboard back. He says they will not file any charges if the keyboard is brought back.
