MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While the Miami Marlins are still working through the final weeks of their 2014 schedule, Major League Baseball released its schedule for next season on Tuesday afternoon.

For the third straight year, the Marlins will open the new season at Marlins Park.

Opening day will take place on April 5th as Miami hosts the Detroit Tigers for a quick two-game set.

After that the Marlins will embark on a six-game road trip to face the Washington Nationals and New York Mets.

The Marlins interleague opponents, in addition to cross-state rival Tampa Bay, will come from the American League's Central Division.

Coming to Marlins Park will be the Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals. Miami will face the Tigers, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins on the road.

As for the Tampa Bay Rays, the Marlins will play them in two separate series', one at Marlins Park and one at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg.

The final homestand of the season will be a 10-game stretch against the Nationals, Mets and Atlanta Braves, all divisional opponents.
