Miami Lakes To Unveil Indian Artifacts

MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  A set of Indian artifacts are set to be unveiled in Miami Lakes this afternoon.

The artifacts were originally excavated from the Madden's Hammock archaeological site in Miami Lakes but have been at at the University of Florida.

Eighteen artifacts will be unveiled including clay, a necklace, a bowl, and an alligator tooth.

The items were returned to the town after Vice Mayor Manny Cid requested the University of Florida's Museum of Natural History to return some artifacts to Miami Lakes.

The Archaeological and Historical Conservancy and one of the original archaeologists involved in the Madden's Hammock excavation are expected to provide a presentation on the artifacts at the unveiling ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at the Miami Lakes Town Hall located at 6601 Main Street at 4:30 p.m.
